Inspire monitors your breathing while you sleep and only uses stimulation when necessary. The patient uses a small handheld remote to turn Inspire on before bed and off when they wake up.

The Inspire sleep apnea implant is made of a small battery and two small wires. It’s placed under the skin of the neck and chest through two or three small incisions during an outpatient procedure. Within a few days, you’re back to your normal activities. Often patients experience little or no pain that’s easily managed with over-the-counter pain medication.
