What Is a Sleep Study?
A Sleep Study is Painless and Non-Invasive
A sleep study (or polysomnography) is a non-invasive, painless test which records your sleep patterns by analyzing the physiology of your heart, lungs, air flow, muscle movements, and the oxygen in your blood. These tests are performed at our labs in a private suite that is as comfortable as your own bedroom. The information obtained allows a sleep physician to evaluate and diagnose your condition. Your referring physician will receive the results and determine the appropriate course of treatment.
What should I bring?
It’s just like preparing for an overnight stay at a hotel. Please bring pajamas or loose-fitting clothes to sleep in, toothbrush/toothpaste, and prescribed medications. (Please note that the sleep lab and the sleep lab personnel do not provide or administer any medications.) You may want to bring your favorite pillow and a book to read to help you relax. The sleep lab will provide pillows, extra blankets, fans, drinks and snacks to help make your stay comfortable. All rooms have TVs for your comfort.
